Streetlight reflections

London, Westminister bridge on the way home from work. Bloody freezing - camera's battery didn't last long.

Ice

Ice, originally uploaded by Tim.J.
Lakes were frozen to fuck, pretty much a massive duck ice rink. Cropped in Photoshop, no other post processing. Probably bloody obvious that I forget to set the white balance too...should have shot in RAW. Bokeh is quite pleasing considering this was shot with my cheapo 18-55 IS lens. Didn't want anything more expensive coming that close to thin ice...

If I could have children with an inanimate lump of metal...

...it would have to be this.

BMS' new coaxial compression driver, comprising of a 1.75" HF diaphragm and an annular 3.5" midrange, sharing the same magnet. The whole vocal range covered from one point source, eliminating smearing in the time domain in the critical 1-5khz band. Nice.

An honest 8" subwoofer? Never...

Browsing Ebay I spotted something rather unusual. An 8" driver sold as a car subwoofer, without all the shiny crap and megawatt power ratings which normally come with automotive stuff to appeal to the boom-boom-bling crowd. The description is fairly honest too, with some nice videos. Here's a photo from the auction showing the quite frankly ridiculous magnet structure:

Note the lack of chrome and the very large motor.
More silly speculation and Thiele-Small musings after the jump.
